Case Studies
CAM-SCI specialises only in Knowledge Economy development and is able to support Science Cities, Science, Research and Innovation Parks and Innovation Centres and Bioincubators at any stage in their life cycle from the earliest concept development to physical delivery and operations. Advice is also provided to existing projects when specific requirements arise. Here is a short selection of projects assisted:
Cambridge Science Park
As the 'spin-out' management team from the Cambridge Science Park, for over ten years, the CAM-SCI team was responsible for strategy development, delivery and operations of the Cambridge Science Park. The Cambridge Science Park is the UK's largest and pre-eminent science park. Prior to CAM-SCI's 'spinning out', the team facilitated the growth of the largest commercial biotechnology cluster in Europe; and in 2002 enabled the launch of Phase Six of the Cambridge Science Park comprising 15,800 sq m (170,000 sq ft) of commercial laboratory space and R&D offices. Reports produced by CAM-SCI providing competitor analysis and monitoring national and international trends in knowledge-economy development include 'The Cambridge Science Park and Beyond'. Other research undertaken analyses the relative success of each of Cambridge's ten 'science parks' of which the Cambridge Science Park is the longest established.
Liverpool Science Park
CAM-SCI has lead the UK's newest science park in Liverpool from conception and business planning through to the delivery and operations of its first two phases. CAM-SCI was appointed to lead the development of Liverpool Science Park following an international search. A flagship regeneration project for the City, Liverpool Science Park has become the fastest growing science park in the UK with more than 35 companies locating to the park in the first two years of operations. In 2007, the Liverpool Science Park Innovation Centre, delivered and managed by CAM-SCI, won two international awards for excellence. Liverpool Science Park's Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer are provided on secondment by CAM-SCI.
Liverpool Vision: Knowledge Brand Development
In a global market, creating a competitive knowledge-brand is a crucial aspect of developing a credible knowledge offer. CAM-SCI has undertaken foundational research to monitor trends in knowledge-brand development and to identify best practice. Using its research, CAM-SCI has undertaken a large study commissioned by Liverpool Vision, Liverpool's leading regeneration agency, to identify key issues in terms of building a competitive knowledge-brand for Liverpool; to advise on best-practice in terms of knowledge-brand development; and to provide analysis with regards to Liverpool's knowledge-brand performance measured against other UK and international knowledge-brands.
